2018 Rosé, Colburn Vineyard

Rosé - the oldest of wines. Sounds odd, but before penicillin and in-line diesel engines, winemaking techniques were stuck in the Dark Ages. Extended cold soaks, inoculated fermentations, and bladder presses were not techniques the ancient drunks employed. They yanked the juice right out of the harvest baskets leaving no skin contact time for the color to develop. So it turned pink - or rosé - thus never developing into a full bodied red wine. Taste? It's fresh, crisp, bright and bone-dry, not heavy and sweet, and when the sun bakes down there's nothing quite as refreshing as swirling a cool glass of Rosé.
